Kernersville - Kiwanis International

Our club sponsors Kiwanis-family organizations that provide young people and adults with opportunities to perform community service and develop leadership skills. Below are the service leadership projects (SLPs) in which we are currently involved:

K-Kids

Builders Club

Key Club

K-Kids
Kiwanis Kids (K-Kids) is a service leadership program for students in elementary schools. K-Kids provides students with opportunities to work together on service projects, develop leadership potential and create strong moral character. K-Kids is a "student-led" community-service organization, which operates under school regulations and draws its members from the student body. K-Kids service projects include organizing clothing, book, food and recycling drives; planning teacher-appreciation events; creating greeting cards for nursing home residents; making sew-free blankets for children’s hospital patients and making picture books for kindergarten students. The Kiwanis Club of Kernersville supports a K-Kids club at Caleb's Creek Elementary School (CCES).
Builders Club
Builders Club is a service leadership program for adolescent students in middle schools. Builders Club provides students with opportunities to develop leadership, improve self-esteem, increase civic engagement and learn life skills through service. As students maneuver this “in-between stage” of life, Builders Club empowers them to be themselves, work together with friends and implement plans through action. Through Builders Club, students become leaders at school, in their community and in the world. Builders Club is a “student-led” community service organization that operates under school regulations and draws its members from the student body. Club members make an impact by selecting projects that meet their communities’ needs. Clubs raise money for HIV/AIDS prevention in Africa, organize recycling drives, clean up local parks and host canned food drives. Builders Club also partners with UNICEF and March of Dimes. Builders Club members are currently raising funds for The Eliminate Project, a joint effort of the Kiwanis family and UNICEF to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus from the face of the Earth. The Kiwanis Club of Kernersville supports Builders Clubs at Southeast Middle School (SEMS), Kernersville Middle School (KMS), and East Forsyth Middle School (EFMS).
Key Club
Key Club is the oldest and largest service leadership organization for teenage students in high schools. Key Club teaches leadership through service to others. The members build themselves as they build their schools and communities. There are more than 5,000 Key Clubs around the world in more than 30 nations, whose members perform more than 12 million service hours each year. Key Club members make a difference in their communities and the world, organizing a variety of service projects, such as cleaning up parks, collecting clothing and organizing food drives. They also learn leadership skills by running meetings, planning projects and holding elected leadership positions at the club, district and international levels. Key Club encourages volunteering and fundraising for partners March of Dimes, UNICEF and the Children’s Miracle Network. Key Club members are currently raising funds for The Eliminate Project, a joint effort of the Kiwanis family and UNICEF to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus from the face of the Earth. The Kiwanis Club of Kernersville supports Key Clubs at Glen High School (GHS) and at East Forsyth High School (EFHS).
